Garden Water Fountains

The sound of water in motion can create a sense of tranquility and relaxation like few other things. Garden water fountains can help to bring this sense of peace to your garden, whether you're in the middle of the country with no neighbors for miles, or in the heart of a bustling metropolis.

There are essentially two types of garden fountains - stand-alone water features and full blown water gardens.

So what is the difference between water gardens and garden water fountains?

The biggest difference between the two is size. Fountains generally stand on their own in the midst of a garden. They are relatively portable and are used to accent the garden. In most cases, they do not need a water supply as they circulate the same water over and over.

These garden water fountains have become quite popular in the last several years. In most cases, they are delivered fully assembled and ready to install. This usually includes the water pump, hoses and all accessories necessary.

Because the water is constantly in motion as it's recirculated, there is no standing water to attract mosquitos. There are usually smaller pools where the water is not moving as rapidly however, giving birds and other small animals a place to bathe.

On the other hand, water gardens often consist of hundreds or thousands of gallons of water. This water is often in standing pools created by special liner materials or pre-formed castings.

These gardens can contains a number of different types of plants - submersible, floating and those that cover both water and the surrounding landscaping.

These pools can also contain small fish if you so desire.

If you have a great deal of space to work with and would like to try your hand at some new types of plants, a water garden may be the right choice.

If you have limited space and are simply looking for a way to accent your garden and add the relaxing sound of moving water, garden water fountains will be your best choice.
